addendum to that last post

i reread it and it sounds paranoid and bitter, and like it was written strictly in response to one particular incident. i thought avoiding a lengthy exposition would've kept it from coming off like that, and while i don't intend to offer one here, let me just say this: the situation i described is one i've run into a bunch of times with a number of different people. further, i'm not condemning people in instances where they happen to be deep in conversation, or are otherwise preoccupied. i'm talking about, like, running into some acquaintance engaged in idle chatter, who makes eye contact with you and yet can't be bothered to give you even a slight nod of the head, some minor acknowledgement that you occupy space in this world.

i don't know, i figured that some people could relate to this, and that maybe it's not too far a stretch to consider that such an experience speaks generally of the ways in which office culture imposes a disconnect between people (though perhaps that's a dubious way to word it, in the sense that arguably, in its very constitution, office culture comprises such experiences, rather than creates them).
