back in the saddle for now

as more and more extrablogular obligations have piled up, and as more and more time has passed since i returned and blurred my powers of recollection, my trip -- along with the many, many things i did in my time on it -- has loomed larger and larger on my radar, and has come to represent an increasingly daunting prospect.
thing is, i intend to follow through on a summary no matter what.
the solution, then? a series of quick, bite-size strikes over the next week and a half or so.
there i am at dodger stadium for a game vs. the san francisco giants. having never been to a game outside of fenway, there was something a little surreal to me about being in a ballpark where the fences surrounding the outfield and bleachers were so low -- fat barry bonds never cleared them, though he did belt a dinger into the stands on his first at-bat (maybe even on his first pitch, if i remember right) -- and where crystal blue sky and palm trees created a postcard backdrop and neon graphic billboards and booming stereo sounds gave the air a video game surge.
come to think of it, it was more than a little like being physically present in one of those silicon ballparks that i'd gotten acquianted with in old nintendo 64 baseball titles. maybe that's just the 22 oz. beers i had at the game talking through hindsight, though.

I truly believe going to other ballparks makes you realize how much of a dump Fenway is, but also how it really is the greatest ballpark in the nation.
Other ballparks I have visited:
PetCo Field - San Diego
SafeCo Field - Seattle
Maybe one day I will go to another field happily named after a sponsor with the term "Co" at the end.
You forgot to mention that the 22 oz. beers cost $12 and that it takes about half an hour to actually get to the front of the line. And that they don't have TVs set up at the food stands so that you don't miss a beat.
cleggo, you're practically begging for "Costco Field" to make its debut. The plus side is, the hot dogs will be $1.49 and that INCLUDES a soft drink!
I love anytime you can connect reality and video games...especially old n64 games. In my first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class, the teacher noticed that I was able to pickup the armbar from the mount position relatively quickly (unlike all the other moves) and commented on it. I didn't tell him that I had seen Bill Goldberg do that same move a million times in WCW/NWO Revenge on n64, which is my favorite fighting game of all time.
