the big solution

to iraq, social security, terrorism, global warming, partisan gridlock, disturbances created by christians and white trash and other people who really can't be as smart as those of us who've earned a college degree, voter apathy, corporate fleecing of hard-working americans, etc.:

get stephen colbert to give one of his big, insincere smiles.

HONESTLY! i swear, we'll all feel better about ourselves and the state of affairs in the world in the morning.

"...and other people who really can't be as smart as those of us who've earned a college degree"
this statement is so completely offensive, especially since i know so many absolute idiots who have earned their college degrees...(bush, for one).

this post may be lampooning stephen colbert but your tools are the same- caustic satire and an insincere tone.

sure, but i'm also not ramming the same essential point -- the anchor is a tool of network, and the world is fucked -- down readers' throats in every post i write.

and furthermore, i think it's short-sighted, impulsive and downright dangerous to promote a singular ATTITUDINAL approach to modern politics, especially when you are in a uniquely influential position as an overwhelmingly popular comedy show that happens to concern politics.

cynicism seems like nothing more than a masturbation at this point. i think it's actually fucking sensationalist.

let's focus on addressing and fixing the problems, rather than settling with congratulating everyone who recognizes that we have them. let's not encourage a complacence among those who'll be content to wear their politics as a stylish accessory, rather than embrace them as a definitive purpose.
