i'm still here, sort of

been a little lean on the writing here these days ... part of the reason for this being that i'm wary of falling off the horse the minute i get back on after having been off so long (and as i read "let us now praise famous men," which my good brother scott got me for christmas, i'm absolutely humbled by young james agee's ability to meditate on a moment in an environment and just stretch it out through time and space, and i feel tremendously self-conscious as a writer when i consider prose and its potential in this light), and part of the reason being that i've been awfully busy in other areas of my life.

one of those areas is the music department, and it feels like jamie and i may have finally found the vocalist we need to round out our band. she's got lots of band experience, she has her own equipment, she sings with oomph, she jibes with us on the personality level and she's got a professional attitude. we've got a second audition lined up with her this week, though i've already got a very good feeling about things based on our first meeting.

tentative: if we maintain this momentum, i think there's a good chance that there'll be an acoustic show in which we debut some original tunes/perform some covers in the near future. rest assured i'll plug it here.

i'm realizing that i'm at my happiest in life when i'm working towards attainable possibilities.

anyhow, acknowledging that there's been a dearth of new material here, and just because you deserve some good reading, i'd like to direct your attention to my sidebar:

elliott's resurrected his blog under a new name: this is l.a., not boston.
he's a great writer, and i'm looking forward to reading new stuff from him.

my buddy robin has started up a travelblogue chronicling his asian tour: 5 bucks.
expect some good mayhem.

finally, my very handsome friend alex has boarded the blog train: scallion pancake.
he's got one of the best senses of humor out of people i know, and i'm hoping that he starts updating the damn thing with some actual entries.
